Ethnic and Asian Rhinoplasty
There can be a variation in nasal shapes and skin types amongst people of different ethnic backgrounds. Rhinoplasty on Non-Caucasian patients has historically been called “Ethnic Rhinoplasty”. It is an old-fashioned term frequently used in the USA to refer to rhinoplasty on patients from African-American, Asian, Hispanic and Middle Eastern backgrounds.
Surgeons must be sensitive to the individual needs of these patients as they frequently are not desiring Caucasian noses but simply want to address certain concerns while still retaining their natural characteristics.
